Heal's Modern Craft Market, Tottenham Court Road

After its hugely successful launch in 2014, Heal’s Modern Craft Market is set to make a welcome return this February. The event celebrates the best in contemporary crafts and furniture design, hosting live workshops and showcasing an array of handpicked collectibles. The main draw is of course the Great Heal’s ‘Bodging Race’, hosted by the Heal’s Tottenham Court Road flagship store, in the design hub of London.
What is bodging?
Using unseasoned wood and traditional Windsor chair making techniques, six designers will race to create limited-edition designs in the windows of Heal’s. This year’s competitors, garnering for the opportunity to have their product selected by the public and the press to go into production exclusively at Heal’s, are furniture designers Chris Eckersley, Sarah Kay, William Warren, Gareth Neal, Carl Clerkin and the designer of Heal’s Koji collection, Koji Katsurago. Carmel Allen, Heal’s Creative Director said: ‘the live Bodging Race in the windows will be a spectacle in itself.’ With unique furniture designs from charitable enterprise Out of the Dark and hand-picked emerging designers also featured, the Craft market is one of our favourite London design events for both design enthusiasts and collectors alike.
