Piet Oudolf garden designs
He’s been cited as the most famous landscape designer in the world today, now Piet Outdolf is exhibiting a selection of designs from his most influential commissions at Hauser & Wirth Somerset.
Since the mid-1990s, The Dutchman’s naturalistic ‘new perennial’ style has influenced a whole generation of landscape designers on a global scale. Inspired by art, nature and time, Piet Oudolf’s gardens are characterised by areas of naturalistic planting, using swathes of perennials and grasses combined with pathways, shrubs and trees.
Hauser & Wirth exhibition
The exhibition will include Oudolf’s designs for the High Line in New York, the Queen Elizabeth II Park at the London Olympic Site, and the enclosed garden for Peter Zumthor’s 2011 Serpentine Pavilion Commission. It’s an inspired choice of artist for the gallery, as it was Oudolf who landscaped the gallery’s newly opened Somerset site, which includes a 1.5 acre garden and 26,000 herbaceous perennials. Visitors will have the opportunity to peruse Oudolf’s beautiful designs and then experience his creations in the flesh in the gallery’s garden. Catch it while the weather’s still good!
