London Design Fair, Old Truman Brewery
London Design Festival always has a dynamic orbit of satellite events attracting cutting-edge contemporary design to the city. The London Design Fair is one such highlight and will transform East London's Old Truman Brewery into a buzzing interior design hub filled with international brands, country pavilions and exhibitions for four days.
The fair's 2019 edition plays host to a staggering 550 exhibitors from 36 countries. There will also be a slew of new features; collectable design gallery Adorno presents Crossovers, an exhibition featuring independent designers representing 12 countries who will celebrate the role that communities have in keeping design and craft alive in their work. A push for a more global representation of craft certainly seems to be the key concern of organisers this year as they have also poignantly renamed their annual British Craft Pavilion as the International Craft Pavilion. The fair's 12 country pavilions also adds to its international atmosphere with individual installations designed by countries including Uruguay, Chile and the Czech Republic and returning showcases from Barcelona, Italy and Sweden.
Good news for those who can't get enough of Instagrammable bathrooms – this year the fair launches The Bathroom Gallery in partnership with Elle Decoration, an exhibition offering visitors a glimpse into marble, chrome, and porcelain havens created by some of the world's leading bathroom brands. For some lightbulbs of inspiration for your own home, head to the creative lighting exhibition [d]arc room which returns to the fair to showcase 75 decorative, architectural and technical lighting brands and offer talks and workshops on how to make the most of lighting products. This colourful trade show is a must for both industry insiders and design fans looking to learn about the latest developments in interior design.
