London Art Antiques & Interiors Fair, ExCel
The acclaimed London Art Antiques & Interiors Fair returns for another year
Even though the art world champions contemporary art, nothing beats a good, much-loved antique. The history, the singularity, the workmanship, even the smell sets the imagination into overdrive. The idea of an object's life over generations – the hands that have held it and the people that have loved it – appeals to something deep within the human psyche.
This January, the London Art Antiques & Interiors Fair returns to ExCel with over 100 carefully vetted exhibitors. With prices ranging from £20 - £20,000, antiques enthusiasts and amateur collectors have the opportunity to hunt for a bargain and look for long-term investment pieces at the same time.
There will be a range of exhibits for sale from across the world and centuries, including a strong selection of Art Deco, Art Nouveau and 20th Century contemporary art, photography and design. Those more interested in vintage design, make a beeline for the stands offering prints, period furniture and sculpture, silver and metal ware, jewellery and vintage textiles and carpets and tapestries.
To get the most out of the fair, we recommend first time buyers and amateur collectors to attend one of the Fair's free accompanying talks, all given by industry experts. Click here for a detailed overview of the talks programme.
But it's not all about splashing the cash at London Art Antiques & Interiors. The Fair's feature exhibition, Poster Persuaders From World War One, is well worth a visit. Featuring over 50 wartime propaganda posters from the personal collection of British antiques collector, Maurice Collins, Poster Persuaders From World War One, will offer an educational insight into the home front moral during the war.
If you feel inspired by the works on display, have a go at creating your own masterpiece with PopUp Painting; the team will be working with London Art Antiques for the duration of the fair.*
With prices starting as low as £20, it's a good way in to the world of antiques collecting.
Opening Times:
Friday 12 January 11am - 6pm
Saturday 13 January 11am - 6pm
Sunday 14 January 11am - 5pm
•PopUp Painting will offer free walk-in taster sessions to all visitors on Saturday and Sunday from 12pm - 2pm.
