London's premier contemporary dance venue, The Place, hosts an online Care Weekend, with live, recorded and interactive dance programmes exploring care in our times

Theatres may remain dark, but artists have been far from idle. And because artists tend to respond to the times they live in, The Place Care Weekend examines how we can care for each other after a year where isolation has been one of the key themes of most of our lives.
More particularly, Care Weekend includes works that look at how dance can bridge the space between us, and help us look after ourselves and our neighbours through artistic and creative responses.
Care Weekend features audio works, dance films, and online interactive performance, a workshop and a panel discussion.

The Choreography of Care – podcast by Claire Cunningham with Luke Pell
Claire Cunningham, one of the UK's most renowned disabled artists, joins forces with her long-time collaborator Luke Pell, to offer us a preview of some of the ideas behind the Choreography of Care symposium they'll be presenting later in 2021

Future Listening – podcast by Kirsty Arnold and Tora Hed
Leeds-based dance artists Kirsty Arnold and Tora Hed took on roles as care workers in the local community at the height of the pandemic. They are joined by a number of other dancers to discuss what is care within the dance community in the context of the current Covid pandemic.

* Seedlings of Time shows choreographer Emily Robinson reconnecting with her father during lockdown, through their mutual love for gardening and movement
* In Rewild / Ailwylltio (pictured top) by Krystal S Lowe and Matthew Gough, a woman explores nature with a freedom long forgotten
* Strings by Natasha Gilmore the choreographer of Scotland-based Barrowland Ballet, brings together young people with complex needs such as autism with dance artists from Barrowland Ballet, discovering the rich possibilities for connection through dance
* Sisterhood by Elsabet Yonas is a dance film where three women celebrate black joy and the power of feminine energy

Movements of Care – Live online workshop with Katherine Hall
Hall invites participants to come together and explore dancing as a practice of care and care as a practice of dancing. She offers short improvisation and writing exercises to explore and question how we care in movement

r00ms – live digital performance by Lukas Steltner and Joy Alpuerto Ritter
Joy Alpuerto Ritter, who's collaborated with Akram Khan among others, and Lukas Steltner come together in a digital work that shows the artists in their home during moments of isolation, doubt, boredom, and joy, and explores how through technology we increasingly invite people we barely know into the intimacy of our four walls.
Duration: 30mins

The weekend programme is completed by a live Zoom panel discussion about care featuring a mix of artists, academics and healthcare professionals – Details yet to be announced: watch this space.
