Here's one for your diary: the Southbank has announced its performance programme for the first half of 2025 and it includes some intriguing dance shows from around the world. Here is Culture Whisper's selection in chronological order:

Stravinsky's immensely powerful The Rite of Spring is the centrepiece of this tempestuous exploration of the cycles of life and death by the Italian dance and performance company Dewey Dell. Full info and tickets here

--- Robyn Orlin, We Wear Our Wheels with Pride -- QEH - 22 & 23 March 2025. Dur.: 1 hour 10 mins. Tickets: £20
Directly from South Africa comes this homage to the rickshaw pullers of the 1970s. Robyn Orlin is joined by dancers from Moving into Dance Mophatong (MIDM), a Zulu contemporary dance company, in a lively and colourful show. Full info and tickets here

The provocative choreographer Holly Blakey returns to the Southbank with a double bill of new dance works that explore memory, loss and reinvention. Expect very physical in-your-face dance interspersed with moments of quieter introspection. Full info and tickets here

--- Sasha Waltz & Guests + London Sinfonietta, In C -- QEH - 29 & 30 April 2025 Dur.: 1 hour 20 mins. Tickets from £15

The German choreographer Sasha Waltz and her company join forces with London Sinfonietta to present their own interpretation of Terry Rileys In C, which dates from 1964 and is considered the very first piece of musical minimalism. Waltz's choreography is built around the piece's 53 musical phrases. Full info and tickets here

--- Rambert X (La) Horde, Bring Your Own -- QEH - 7 - 10 May 2025. Dur.: 1 hour 15 mins. Tickets from £20
The UK's foremost contemporary dance company joins forces with France's (La) Horde for a triple bill of punchy works: Weather Is Sweet, inspired by the LA club scene; A Room With a View, which asks the audience to look in the mirror; and a special commission for Rambert alone.
