Tea and Nutcracker at the Bloomsbury Ballroom
The glamorous Blooomsbury Ballroom hosts a unique performance of that most loved of all Christmas ballets, The Nutcracker, alongside a sophisticated afternoon tea
Nutcracker is the Christmas ballet to beat all Christmas ballets and every year it’s performed by hundreds of ballet companies the world over.
In Britain there is plenty of choice from English National Ballet's idiosyncratic version to the Royal Ballet’s glorious classic. But none will be presented in such glamorous surroundings as Ballet Central’s offer at the Bloomsbury Ballroom.
Located right in the centre of London - between the West End and The City in beautiful Bloomsbury Square - the glamorous 1920s Art-Deco venue boasts an exquisite neo-classical façade, marble entrance halls and listed features.
And this Christmastide it will host a special one-off occasion: a sumptuous afternoon tea accompanied by a performance of a series of excerpts from The Nutcracker.
The dancers come from the Central School of Ballet – this is the first time the school’s touring company, Ballet Central, presents the Christmas classic.
The company gives final year students first-hand experience of professional dance, offering opportunities to perform in cutting-edge modern dance pieces as well as traditional tutu favourites.

Ballet Central’s Artistic Director, Christopher Marney, says he’s thrilled his students are having this opportunity, which “marks the start of an annual initiative to expand the performance exposure for our talented final year students at Central School of Ballet, all on the cusp of their professional careers.”
Central Ballet’s young dancers will be keen to grab this opportunity with both hands, so you are in for a very special performance accompanied – of course! – by Tchaikovsky’s glorious score.
But what about the afternoon tea? we hear you ask. Well, the savoury menu offers roast turkey and stuffing sandwiches, smoked salmon cream cheese and chive sandwiches and brie and cranberry sandwiches. Sweet treats include scones, macaroons, eclairs and meringues.

(tickets for the performance alone, excluding tea are £25)
