Michael Keegan-Dolan, Nobodaddy, Sadler's Wells
Irish choreographer and theatre maker Michael Keegan-Dolan brings his Teaċ Daṁsa company to Sadler's Wells with a brand new work, Nobodaddy.
A show by Michael Keegan-Dogan is never less than emotionally exciting, visually stimulating and thoroughly thought-provoking. Now the Irish visionary choreographer returns to Sadler's Wells. where he is an associate artist, with his latest work, Nobodaddy, performed by his own company, Teaċ Daṁsa, and guests.
Nobodaddy is a characteristically multi-disciplinary work, at times anarchic, full of allusions and literary references. The title itself is drawn from a figure created the poet of English Romanticism William Blake, whose 'nobodaddy' was 'the father of jealousy', 'lover of war and slaughtering'. Keegan-Dolan and Teaċ Daṁsa's Nobodaddy, though, is a celebration of life and an ode to peacemakers.
The piece is performed by nine dancers and seven musicians, with the renowned folk singer and musician, Sam Amidon as a special guest. It features live music on stage, dance and the spoken word.
Nobodaddy premiered in Belfast in September and subsequently had a successful run in Dublin. The Irish Examiner said, ' there is more than enough to astonish and move in the successive vignettes'; while The Irish Independent summed it up thus: 'This a complex blast of joy and sadness from the house of Teaċ Daṁsa that sends you away with a skip in your step and a catch in your throat.'
