Founded in 2017, Company MEK is a young, multinational, diverse Swiss-based collective that uses a blend of hip-hop and contemporary dance to create vibrant pieces that focus on current issues and their impact on young people.

Father Politics, which has its UK premiere at the Coronet Theatre in November, reflects what company founder and director Muhammed Kaltuk, who was born in Switzerland into a Turkish family, describes as his sense of powerlessness in the face of politics, the feeling that you are not represented.

Choreographed by Kaltuk to Clockworked by the Swiss composer Tobias Herzog, Father Politics is billed as being 'about the energies that arise when you become politicised and get something moving.'

Here's the enticing trailer for Father Politics:

Father Politics is performed by a group of eight dancers, all strong individuals given their own specific solos, and all able to bring their own energy to bear on powerful ensemble sequences.
