Following a thrilling 2018 run, fun-fuelled fusion of ballet and street dance Beats on Pointe returns to wow London dance audiences at The Peacock Theatre
Last seen in London in February 2018, the classical ballet and street dance mash up that is Beats on Pointe is returning to the capital to get audiences at The Peacock Theatre dancing in their seats.
Ballet and street dance are two extremely popular dance styles, yet they could not be more different. Beats on Pointe is an exhilarating blend of entertainment that showcases the best of these two genres, individually and combined, by treating spectators to both classical and contemporary ballet alongside old and new school street dance.
For Beats on Pointe, sixteen multi-talented dancers go toe-to-toe in tightly-choreographed routines. These are all set to a playlist that covers an impressively comprehensive mix of classical music, 70s groove tunes and current hits.
All the explosive onstage action is anchored by a dynamic modern story that sees two opposing dance worlds collide. The result is a vivacious two-hour dance journey, throughout which the dancers must unite to a find a common ground.
Beats on Pointe is suitable for the entire family and is indisputably more than just a dance show.
In addition to dazzling dancing and feel-good music, this high-energy theatrical spectacular also boasts freestyle acts, singing, beatboxing and even a dash of well-timed comedy. Audience participation is strongly encouraged – prepare to whoop, cheer, get up on your feet and boogie in the aisles.
The colourful show is produced by the Melbourne-based commercial dance theatre company Masters of Choreography. Founded in 2013 by husband and wife team Milo and Jennifer Peric, the company aims to share the talents of Australian choreographers while uniting dancers in theatrical extravaganzas that spread the joy of dance.
