No-Fruit Smoothie recipe
Don't let your January resolve start to falter: our resident foodie shares her recipe for a fruit-free smoothie that's as delicious as it is nutritious
NO-FRUIT SMOOTHIE
One of my New Year’s resolutions is not dieting, but trying to cut back on sugar and increase my intake of dark, leafy greens and cruciferous vegetables.
Spinach, kale, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage..…are rich in calcium, iron, magnesium and help with detoxification.
They are also packed with fibre, which keeps the colon healthy and feeds your gut friendly bacteria.
This luscious, creamy avocado and mint smoothie gives me what my body needs, tastes great and makes me feel good.
I usually prepare it first thing in the morning, make double the amount and drink it through the morning and as an afternoon snack.
INGREDIENTS
Serves 1
300 ml almond milk
¼ avocado
1 handful organic kale
1 handful organic spinach or lettuce
1 large handful mint leaves
1 tbsp ground flaxseeds
1 tbsp protein powder ( I use Pulsin Hemp protein or Life Drink from Terranova, which is supplement packed with phytonutrients, protein, enzymes, probiotics, good fats, fibre and much more.)
METHOD
Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth. Enjoy!
Vegetarian; vegan; free from gluten, dairy and refined sugar
