The return of Daniel Barenboim: Proms 2016 takes on Mozart's Piano Concerto No 24
The first of three consecutive Proms in which a Mozart piano concerto precedes a Bruckner symphony is conducted by a great Proms favourite, both as pianist and conductor, Daniel Barenboim.

He directs Mozart's Piano Concerto No 24 from the keyboard; Beethoven lamented, on first hearing the work, "We shall never be able to do anything like that." In his Symphony No 4, the Romantic, Bruckner's distinctively broad sound starts to flourish and mature into the magnificence of his later works.
