Bach Weekend at Kings Place
Solo violin and keyboard works are interspersed with choral music in a whole weekend of compositions by J.S. Bach
The great annual Bach Weekend is a fixture in the London musical calendar but it finds a new home this year at Kings Place, where great devotional and intense solo works will be interspersed with chamber music played by the Feinstein Ensemble, under Bach Weekend pioneer Martin Feinstein.
Total immersion begins on 1 Apr with two cantatas, sung by the London Bach Singers with the Feinstein Ensemble, including Ich Habe Genug. Also sung is the great Mass in B Minor on 2 Apr at 7:30PM, when soloists include Tim Travers-Brown (countertenor).
Playing Bach’s captivating solo works are Catherine Manson (violin) in the Partita No 2 in D minor on 1 Apr at 10PM, Steven Devine performing the Goldberg Variations on Apr 2 at 4PM, and Richard Tunnicliffe, whose performance of the complete cello suites on 3 Apr at 11:30AM and 3.45PM features at 2.45PM a free but ticketed talk. The weekend concludes with music by Bach, Telemann and Handel, including Handel’s Suite No 3 in G, the Water Music, played by the Feinstein Emsemble.
