Trpceski (Rachmaninov) has become
a beloved presence on the international stage. With numerous awards and
appearances with many of the most significant orchestras in the world, he
belongs to the first rank of today’s
concert musicians. In an era filled with key-thumping would-be prodigies,
Trpceski’s deft, witty and fluid approach presents a welcome relief.
This November, in the Barbican Centre’s 2015/16 classical season, Trpceski will take to the stage alone for an evening in celebration of Frederic Chopin. There is perhaps no other romantic composer to so fully explore the possibilities of the piano, and the recital will take in the full breadth of his remarkable ouerve. From the melancholy delicacy of Two Nocturnes (1840-1) to the stridency of Four Marzukas (1835), this is a chance to savour the instrument’s full vibrancy. In Trpsceski’s trusty hands, they may well prove transcendent.
