Musical Olympiad, Cadogan Hall

Musical Olympiad promises an action-packed morning of explorative musical activities with a twist, pitting classical instruments against each other in a series of sporting contests at Chelsea's Cadogan Hall

This stimulating sporty set-up presents a classic score, including Beethoven, Prokofiev, Satie and Mozart, through the engaging and accessible theme of a competition.

As part of the Southbank Sinfonia’s Saturday Spectacular family concert series, this musical adventure will combine high quality performances with audience participation and musical innovation to ensure that children and parents alike are treated to a unique orchestral experience.

Musical Olympiad is composed and presented by Tim Steiner, a specialist in family orchestral events whose past projects include a musical retelling of The Jungle Book with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra.

Before the concert, families are invited to meet the musicians and even try out the instruments, giving you the chance to weigh up the competition and decide who you’ll be rooting for as the games begin.

But when the exertions of the morning are over, which musical instrument will reign supreme? Could it be the booming timpani, the warbling flute, or perhaps the rich and uniquely versatile cello?
