Love Classical, Royal Albert Hall
A festival of classical music with top names, rising stars and musical fun for all the family
The Royal Albert Hall is the home of the Proms, but year round it stages music on a grand scale. For six weeks from 25 April the RAH puts on its own concerts and music-related events in a relaxed atmosphere, with several dates aimed at youngsters.
The cornerstones of the festival are four great concerts, starting with Chineke!, our favourite orchestra of 2018, and guest artist, the US techno producer and DJ Carl Craig (28 April). Expect some beats with your Beethoven, then...
Another composer gets the 21st-century treatment (30 April), when Clark, composer Peter Gregson and keyboard artist Vikingur Olafsson present their Bach Evolution, taking their inspiration from Bach's cello works. The essentially jazzy rhythms of Bach make this music infinitely adaptable.

Among several events for children and families is My Great Orchestral Adventure (28 May). 'Calling all time travellers!' is the summons made to young music-lovers, urging them to go on a great big musical journey. Other events for children include Tuba-Tastic! (27 April), Opera for Kids: Amazing Arias (26 May) and Albert's Band (31 May), suitable for all with babies and buggies.

The festival also includes informal lunchtime recitals in cabaret style, and events are staged in the RAH's smaller spaces, as well as the famous circular auditorium.
