Culture Whisper & Devialet host an evening of forgotten Jazz – The Lost Recordings of Sarah Vaughan

Join us for an evening of jazz at the Covent Garden Hotel, as we delve into the lost recordings of Sarah Vaughan. In collaboration with Devialet, creators of the ‘implosive sound centre’ that is the Phantom sound system, this immersive one-off event will provide a rare chance to hear the digitally remastered voice of one of the greatest jazz singers of the 20^th century.

Proving that ‘those who build the future always know the value of the past’, Devialet has unearthed previously lost or unreleased recordings of the world's most famous jazz musicians. Among their exceptional discoveries were the tapes of Sarah Vaughan’s 1975 performance at the Laren Jazz Festival. Using their patented Expert Pro digital-analog hybrid capabilities, they found the perfect balance of sound to bring Vaughan’s exquisite voice to life once more.


And what a voice it is. An African American jazz singer active from 1940s -1990s, Sarah Vaughan was described by music critic Scott Yanow as having 'one of the most wondrous voices of the 20th century'. While she may not be as prolific as Ella Fitzgerald, Vaughan is a four-time Grammy winner and recipient of the NEA Jazz Master Award, and has a voice that is easily as good.

So, join us on 10 October to hear breathtaking melodies not heard since 1975. After the audio-concert, in Covent Garden Hotel’s private cinema there will be cocktails and canapés with Culture Whisper’s founder, Eleonore Dresch and in-house Devialet experts.
