Borodin Quartet: Shostakovich and Beethoven, Wigmore Hall
70 years old last year, the Borodin Quartet are only just getting started with their new Beethoven and Shostakovich series
The Beethoven and Shostakovich string quartets are the cornerstones of many ensembles’ repertoire, and the outstanding Borodin Quartet is tackling these monumental works head-on in a series stretched across successive seasons at Wigmore Hall.
Four concerts between November and June begin on 4 Nov with Shostakovich's despairing and defiant String Quartet No 9, played with Beethoven's great "Razumovsky" quartet in F.
Further Concerts follow on 6 Nov, 1 June and 3 June.
