The Berlin Philharmonic, under Simon Rattle, pays tribute to the late visionary Pierre Boulez with his kaleidoscopic Eclat, which makes a suitable companion piece to Mahler’s radical Seventh Symphony, in which the composer experiments with sound, stretching the possibilities of harmony and orchestration.
