New film The Batman

The upcoming Batman movie might be called The Batman, star Ben Affleck has said in an interview. This is good news: it means the movie is continuing the blunt-title tradition of Batman v. Superman, the film that debuted Affleck's version of the caped crusader.

The only way to go from here, titularly, is simply Batman, and we look forward to the follow-up trend of excessively long and baroquely titled Batman films. The Pointy-Eared Defender of Justice: Costumed Villains Beware!™

The latest Batman incarnation is Warner Bros' chance to put things right after B v. S and Suicide Squad, neither of which were very good. The very vocal disappointment of fans and critics alike was enough to make Ben Affleck sad, which bodes well: Batman is supposed to be a moody so-and-so, cloaked in the darkness of misery.
