On the release of the Swiss Army Man trailer, we prepare you for a film in which Paul Dano is lonely and Daniel Radcliffe dead... ish.

Swiss Army Man assembles an unlikely combo. Paul Dano plays Hank, a lost soul stranded on a desert island who believes he’ll live out his days in isolation. Everything changes when a corpse, played by Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe, washes ashore.
Radcliffe does indeed 'play' the dead body, and not just in the way that an extra 'plays' the victim in a murder mystery: Radcliffe's body becomes a lot more (re-)animated as the film goes on.
In any other film, Dano's Hank might have to worry about becoming zombie food, but it should be obvious that Swiss Army Man is unlike other films. What it most closely resembles is a buddy movie - with the slight difference that the buddy is a flatulent cadaver called Manny whom the protagonist uses as a jet-ski.
It's safe to say that the early reactions to this bizarre film have been mixed, and it's unlikely that there will be unanimous critical adulation when it gets a general release this summer. Swiss Army Man is the cinematic debut of directors Daniel Scheinert and Daniel Kwan best known for music videos, and the consensus is that their wacky concept is too flimsy for a full-length feature.
There's also been some strong distaste at some of the more gross-out moments (we won't spoil anything here...).
Still, most are in agreement that Dano and Radcliffe are very watchable - and maybe there's something to be said for watching the whole thing as a bonkers alternate ending to the last Harry Potter film?
