Get the immersive experience of Secret Cinema from the comfort of your own sofa during lockdown as the masters of experiential movie events launch a free online film club.
Secret Sofa is an entertainment series that allows you to create your own interactive cinema adventure. A different film is brought to life each week. Sign up to the Secret Sofa weekly newsletter to be notified about the upcoming film and to receive the pre-screening narrative. Details are sent on Tuesdays, giving you plenty of time to set the scene, dig out costumes and rope in companions (virtually if needed), ahead of the film screenings every Friday at 7:30pm.
Specially-written content, character backstories, interactive challenges and trademark Secret Cinema surprises elevate the standard home cinema experience, and take you into the world of the film. You could be learning dance routines, making props or singing along, depending on each week's film. And you can share your costumes, socialise and take part in pre- and post- film discussions on the Secret Sofa Facebook group.
Commenting on the new initiative, Secret Cinema CEO Max Alexander said:
'We want to bring a sense of play back into people’s homes during this time of isolation. At the heart of Secret Cinema’s experiences is audience participation and groups of strangers coming together to experience film and culture in new and interesting ways. Secret Sofa is our home cinema version of this, where the nation will be able to relive a Secret Cinema they loved or missed, as well as discover new titles and share their experiences with each other virtually. We are going to transform your sofa into a time machine, a portal and a place of discovery and connection withthe outside world. Secret Cinema is the master of surprises, so watch this space for other new and exciting initiatives.'
