Since its debut in 2005, Jersey Boys has run and run in the West End and on Broadway, and now makes the leap from stage to big screen. Perhaps surprisingly, it's directed by Clint Eastwood, although it being the story of scuzzy New Jersey street kids-turned-pop superstars Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, there's a definite argument for a grittier, Eastwood-esque treatment.

Eastwood has drawn the cast mainly from the Broadway and West End shows, with a sprinkling of big stars for name-recognition. Christopher Walken is billed to play mobster Gyp DeCarlo – anyone who's seen the music video for Fatboy Slim's Weapon of Choice will know how well Walken does in a musical setting.
