Mount Everest is the highest and most dangerous place on Earth. Kormákur’s cast and crew have achieved quite a feat with new film Everest by valiantly shooting on location in Nepal.
Coming to UK cinemas on 18 September, this new film about Everest – based on Jon Krakauer’s best-selling autobiography, Into Thin Air – tells the remarkable tale of a group of mountaineers who endure sub-zero temperatures and cripplingly low oxygen levels when stranded atop Everest during one of the worst snowstorms in recorded history.

Starring Academy Award nominees Jake Gyllenhaal, actor Josh Brolin and Keira Knightley, Everest the movie looks a thrilling disaster movie, but we'll have to wait and see what the critics say at this year's Venice festival, where the film will premier.

Everest didn't meet with positivity at this year's Venice, with Peter Bradshaw calling the film 'subdued', 'messy' and 'frustrating'. We guess this won't be another Birdman year after all.
