Mr Turner at The Gate Cinema: Panel Discussion
One for film buffs: Mr Turner London cinema listings will include a screening at Notting Hill's arthouse cinema The Gate, followed by a Q&A panel to discuss the filmmaking process
Mancunian director Mike Leigh presents his soulful biopic of Britain’s most treasured artist, J. M. W. Turner. Mr Turner focuses on the last twenty-five years of the artist’s life, exploring his dichotomous relationship with the public (adored and reviled by royals and public alike), whilst paying tribute to an intricate human story; a man with moral flaws that undercut his artistic genius.
This Sunday, 2 November The Gate Cinema in Notting Hill (in conjunction with the Griffin Gallery) is having a very special screening of this Cannes Award winning flick, followed by a panel including Spall’s very own art tutor, and a range of technical advisors and Turner buffs who worked on the film. For those interested in either the artist or the process of creating a film like Mr Turner, this is an opportunity not to be missed.
