Last year’s crowdpleasing drama Day of the Flowers will be screened by the Cine Lumiere this June, accompanied by a Q&A with the director and members of the cast and crew.
The plot…
The film is light, creamy fair: two squabbling Scottish siblings travel to Cuba to scatter their father’s ashes. Defunct ideals, a misplaced urn, a dose of culture shock and a romantic fling combine, transforming the journey into one of rediscovery for the sisters, helped along by the local Cuban hunk.
A new career direction?
The heart-throb in question is played by Havana-born Royal Ballet superstar, Carlos Acosta CBE. In his first feature film, Acosta proves he’s more than a pretty pair of legs. The dancer is a natural in this acting role; his performance is all verve and Cuban charisma. Perhaps we’ll see more of him on the silver screen, when he finally hangs up his ballet slippers later this year.
Q&A
This Institut Français premiere will be followed by a question and answer session with English director John Roberts as well as undisclosed members of the cast and crew. We'll keep you updated, but cross your fingers for Carlos.
