The Summer Nights Film Festival is a very special celebration of classic films, broadcast into the parkland of breathtaking National Trust venues. Films such as Grease, Gravity, The Wicker Man, Gatsby, Rocky Horror Picture Show will come to the country's foremost estates. Giant screens will appear at the spectacular eighteenth century Kedleston Hall to the sixteenth century French château-style house at Waddesdon Manor ; the picturesque dilapidation of Debyshire's Calke Abbey and the Elizabethan splendour of Hardwick Hall .
Whilst most the houses are in the North of England, Waddesdon Manor is an hour from London by train, or car. We suggest you nip up to Buckinghamshire in September to catch either most recent Bond flick Skyfall (September 6), or Some Like it Hot (September 5) on their seventeenth century style parterre, or formal garden. This beloved comedy, starring Marilyn Monroe, and directed by Billy Wilder, never fails to disappoint, with its surrealist touches and jubilant sexiness.
Visitors are invited to bring picnics and bottle of bubbly, or to splurge on a dinner in the restaurants attached. Be sure to pack a few rugs in case the temperature drops, or you just feel like cuddling up to your fellow guests!
Early bird tickets are available now, so scoop them up whilst you still can.
