Nomad Cinema, Summer 2016
One of the best pop up cinemas in London, Nomad launches its summer season
This season’s locations range from the intimate (Coram Secret Garden, Bushy Park) to the grandiose (Royal Academy of the Arts, Brown Hart Gardens) with events also scheduled at several secret locations, including a sporting landmark and a historic factory.
The pop up paragons do a fine line in retro favourites. This year, in anticipation of the big reveal, Nomad have been running a spoiler competition, giving audiences the chance to guess the films that will be screening this year (winners get a goodie-bag). We’ve already identified a David Lynch masterpiece, a Spielberg spectacular, and one of Bill Murray’s finest hours.
But it's not just about the films; these events also boasts pop and bars and street food. And, if you need further convincing, remember that 100% of Nomad’s profits are donated to The Sustainability Institute, an environmental and educational charity based in South Africa.
LINE UP ANNOUNCED:
This year's one of Nomad's best yet: from Bowie's quirkiest screen performance in Labyrinth to Hitch masterpieces Psycho, Vertigo and The Birds, and cult classics Mulholland Drive and Taxi Driver – this year sees fewer of the repetitive cult revivals that have been dominating the pop up cinema world (though The Big Lebowski does put in an appearance) and more on offer for true film buffs. Relive Heath Ledger's finest screen performance as the joker in The Dark Knight and Jesse Eisenberg (who is currently everywhere) in his debut The Social Network. We can't wait.
