Gourmet Cinema Club presents Romeo + Juliet, Century

The world of Capulets and Montagues is remembered for its devastating tragedy – blood spilled, love lost, lives irreparably changed. But Australian filmmaker Baz Luhrmann injects a hedonistic spirit into all of his films; from the glittering bohemianism of Moulin Rouge! to the garish ambition of Strictly Ballroom.

It's fitting, then, that a screening of Luhrmannn's version of Romeo + Juliet is being screened by Gourmet Cinema Club, the organisation making sure good films are watched with even better food. Proceedings kick off as soon as you walk through the door, as attendees are handed edible tickets (so you can start as you mean to go on) before choosing food from a decadent tapas menu.



Szechuan aubergine, burrata di bufala, grilled Toulouse sausage and more – choose three tapas plates to enjoy, perhaps to ease the pain as Leonardo Di Caprio's Romeo sees his world crumble as he follows his heart for Juliet (a fresh-faced Claire Danes).

After the meal, with a crisp glass of wine in one hand and a mountain of shareable popcorn in the other, sit back and marvel at the greatest love story of our time – without having to worry about a grumbling stomach.
