Dream Horse: true story sees Toni Collette train a racehorse
Dream Horse was due to come out in cinemas on 17 April 2020, but due to fears surrounding the coronavirus outbreak, the release will be delayed. The new release date is yet to be confirmed.
Having recently thrilled audiences as a haywire matriarch in Ari Aster's indie horror Hereditary and entertained us equally as a performative woke relative in Rian Johnson whodunnit Knives Out, it seems there's nothing Toni Collette can't do.
Her newest role sees her, first and foremost, completely master a Welsh accent. The American actress plays bartender and cleaner Jan Vokes, who finds a way to change her life by deciding to breed a racehorse in her small village.
Damien Lewis – who you might remember from early Homeland days – co-stars, in a story that champions community and the idea of one dream being able to fuel a whole tiny nation.
Dream Horse is based on a true story, and seems to have all the markings of a conventional feelgood drama, complete with stirring messages to vitalise an audience in difficult times.
It's been a while since something with the star power of Dream Horse has been coupled with the training of animals as independent as horses – so place your bets for an entertaining vision of some of the world's finest racers, if nothing else.
