The best drive-in cinemas in London
Tom Kerridge’s Drive & Dine Theatre
Here with one of the most tantalising drive-in cinema offerings is not an obvious cinephile, but the Michelin-starred chef Tom Kerridge. Transforming his successful Pub in the Park – a travelling gastropub that pops up in green spaces around the UK – into the Drive & Dine Theatre, Kerridge invites punters to park up and watch a classic film or live comedy show, while tucking into his culinary creations inspired by the menus of old-school American drive-ins (think gourmet sausage rolls and Kerridge’s signature cheese burger).
The pop-up cinema is descending on two London venues – Syon Park and Selhurst Park Stadium – both from 28 July-2 August. Look forward to critically-acclaimed titles including La La Land,1917 and Knives Out, as well as suitably retro hits including Grease, Jaws and Back to the Future.
Screenings cost £17.50 (£5.50 - £7.50 for children) excluding food.
Rooftop Film Club presents the Drive-In
While we might not be heading to rooftops to gaze over the London horizon any time soon, the experts of outdoor cinema at Rooftop Film Club have planned a top-tier drive-in season.
Their Drive-In takes place at the historic venue Alexandra Palace, and boasts a totally contact-free experience. The films, ranging from Sonic the Hedgehog to Grease, will be projected on a 40-foot screen with movie audio playing from your own radio.
Food and drink from home is welcome, but Popdogs will be on hand with refreshments at the venue, with contact-free delivery to your door courtesy of the Drive-In's skating waiters.

The masters of immersive cinema were always going to adapt. First we had Secret Sofa, with weeks of communal entertainment without leaving the house, and now a new experience is cropping up in Goodwood.
Movie titles include Rush, Star Wars, The Incredibles, Moulin Rouge and so many more, favouring a mostly family-friendly evening. Plus, a sanitised JBL portable speaker will be given to viewers for a brilliant sonic experience.
In terms of snacks? There's organic produce from Goodwood, whipped up into a range of American Diner-inspired dishes, and as ever with Secret Cinema, Häagen-Dazs are here to help.

Carview-20 is leaning in to the outdoor experience, by establishing its base for the drive-in cinema in Aldenham Country Park to let viewers gaze at the forest stars at the same time as the movie.
It's another FM transmitter broadcast situation in terms of sound, and a number of food trucks will be on site to deliver snacks throughout the film – which you can order via Carview's website. And in terms of the films? Call Me By Your Name, Knives Out, Joker, La La Land, Home Alone, to name but a few.
Gold Members can email events@carview20.co.uk with the subject WhisperWinner for the chance to receive complimentary tickets.
The Luna Drive-In Cinema
There might not be a blanket-on-grass type situation for this year's outdoor cinema with Luna, but the Allianz stadium certainly provides a handsome backdrop.
Oven-baked pizzas, bespoke retro-inspired food, freshly popped popcorn and ice-cold drinks will all be available to order online, delivered directly to the car – and hampers including lemon butter shortbread, cheese boards with charcoal crackers, peanut butter cups and fizz wizz can be pre-ordered too.
Films-wise, it's a stellar line-up: Sister Act, The Goonies, Mary Poppins, The Devil Wears Prada, Happy Feet, Pulp Fiction, Groundhog Day and so many more.
