The sunburn treatment taskforce
If your tanning plans went a little askew and you're feeling the burn then read on for the most helpful tips and treats for easing the heat. Of course, the key message is not to damage skin at all, and slather on a golf ball sized blob of SPF50 - we love these. But in the meantime, if you’ve missed a spot, don’t sweat it; we have the tell-all guide on the best skin soothers, sun burn relief to take the temperature down, extend your tan and ease the pain.

Dr. Catherine Borysiewicz, Consultant Dermatologist at the Cadogan Clinic offers her top-tips to relieve your symptoms until your skin heals:

• Cool your skin by having a cold bath or shower, or try a cold compress on the affected area.

• Drink plenty of fluids to cool you down and prevent dehydration.

• If you need to, take painkillers, such as ibuprofen or paracetamol.

• If you have blisters – gently pop them with a sterile needle – but leave the skin intact – as this acts as a natural plaster to heal.

• Apply enough cream so that it sits on top of the skin, and as soon as it starts to disappear – apply more.
