How to get the perfect Christmas party make-up
1/ Don’t worry too much about trends and trust what works for you
'By the age 35 to 40, most women know what suits them and have perhaps established a way of wearing their eye make-up already. I’d suggest working with your existing style and using a shimmering eye shadow to create more drama'.
2/ Choose whether to focus on your eyes or lips
'Very few models can take a really strong eye and a really strong mouth. And I think in real life that's even harder because you haven't got the right light necessary or a great photographer.'
So either focus on your eyes or your lips.
Kay's tips: Gold eyelids are very in at the moment. A little pop of gold just above the iris will look good with darker lips.

3/ Skin prep: always make sure that you have a good base
'It is very important to illuminate your skin before putting some make-up on.'

4/ Go matt finish on your T-zone and shiny on your cheeks
‘I don't like shiny nostrils. I don't like shiny chins, but I love shiny eyes and shiny cheekbones. Makeup is an optical illusion, so anything which is dark and matt goes in and anything which is shiny and light pops out. Makeup should bring attention to your eyes and your mouth. The T-zone of your face (nose, cheek and forehead) should be matt while your eyes and cheekbones should shine’
Kay's tips: Use loose powder on your T-zone and make your cheekbones glow with blushers. Never put powder on your cheekbones. They need to be glowy but don’t go overboard with the glow.

7/ Never leave without your eyelash curler
'I am obsessed with my eyelash curler. It is the one item I can’t leave without. It really wakes up your eyes. If you wear mascara it makes a huge difference. Subtle, but it has a lot of impact... Eyebrow grooming is also key.'

8/ Mascara: use simple, fine brushes
'You won't find many makeup artists who like big fat brushes because, with big fat brushes, you've got no control.'

Rimmel lashes extension is really good and so is the new clickable black mascara noir Allure.

9/ Using eyeshadow? Apply loose powder first
'If you're using eyeshadow, it's important to put a little bit of loose powder just under your brow. That stops it from going blotchy because the minute there's powder, the product doesn't adhere or stick.'

10/ Lip liners should match your natural lip colour
'A good lip liner should have the same colour as your lips. Apply a little bit of it (about a millimetre over the lips, at the top especially), and then apply any coloured lipstick on top of the lips and the line above the lips.'

And when the party is over...
'I use Chanel eye make-up remover (truly the best, but don't rub it in) and a foaming cleanser in the evening. Then I simply rinse my face in the morning with a cloth.'
