The winter fragrances for 2019 that will make you swoon
From intensely fruity winter blends to scents inspired by snow-capped mountains, you'll love the fragrances launching this season
1. Tom Ford Soleil Neige, £164
This is the winter version of Tom Ford’s iconic Soleil Blanc, and he says of it: 'Radiant with winter light, the scent mimics the shimmer of sun on snow.' So what you really need to know is that it smells divine, with top notes of rose, and powdery-dry, warm, musky vanilla base notes, that’s absolutely heavenly to wear. Available at Selfridges and nationwide from 1 November.
2. Chanel Holiday Gift Boxes in No.5, L’Eau and Coco Mademoiselle, £130
The most prominent selling and top perfumes for women in history, the iconic ‘Chanel spritzes’ have been upgraded for Christmas 2019. For a limited time, the perfume bottles will sit very nicely in a festive, snowscape-d gift box. Swoon. Launching on 1 November.
3. Jo Malone Rose & Magnolia Cologne, £104
Jo Malone’s Christmas Collection 2019, Magic & Mayhem, has so many beautiful fragrances and gift sets, you'll be spoilt for choice. However, we especially loved the unisex Rose & Magnolia – with the softly seductive scent of flowers mixed with amber and patchouli, it makes the perfect perfume gift for men and women. Launching on 21 October.
4. Tiffany & Co Tiffany & Love for Her, Tiffany & Love for Him, £75
His and hers fragrances come in the stylish Tiffany blue this season with complementary scents that the brand describes as a tribute to emotional connections. 'We’ve always celebrated the enduring power of love in all its forms,' says Reed Krakoff, chief artistic officer, Tiffany & Co. 'Our new fragrances are a reflection of modern love and the authentic connections that reflect the strength, joy and promise we find in one another.'
Tiffany & Love for Her is modern, floral and woody, while the Tiffany & Love for Him is citrusy and aromatic with a wood-infused base.
5. Burberry Her Intense at John Lewis, £60
We wrote about Burberry Her, and the face of the fragrance, Cara Delevingne last year – and we’re happy to say an ‘Intense’ version is now on counter too. To make it darker and more alluring, they’ve added lots of benzoin, a tree resin that has an incense-like vanilla aroma.
6. Gucci Bloom Ambrosia di Fiori, £81
The latest instalment of the Gucci Bloom family is an intensified version, with sweet jasmine bud extract, sultry tuberose and Rangoon creeper, intensified by velvety orris and heady Damascena rose that’s harvested in the early morning. It packs a powerful punch – which is great as drier skin and lower temperatures mean you can go heavier with your fragrance.
7. Tom Daxon Fuyu at Les Senteurs, £155
This is a superfood of a scent with fruity notes of white peach and Japanese fuyu persimmon mixed with jasmine, iris, soft musks and cedar. It’s in the unisex category and is neither overly feminine or masculine, just a very cool and vibrant scent.
8. Baccarat Rouge 540 Extrait de parfum at Harrods, £300
Yes, this is an expensive option, but the intense scent lasts the entire day and is a bold blend of saffron and Grandiflorum jasmine from Egypt, bitter almond and a medley of woods and amber. It’s sultry and dark, but with a slight crystal coolness too that appeals to sophisticated men and women.
