Daniel Kitson, Stewart Lee, Josie Long, Lewis Schaffer - Resofit at Bloomsbury Theatre
Four of the best present a gala show for 104.4 Resonance FM...
Four of the biggest names in stand-up are coming to the Bloomsbury Theatre this 14 February in a mixed-bill fundraising gala for 104.4 Resonance FM – London’s best and most daring arts radio station.
In a lineup such as dreams are made of, shambling febrile genius Daniel Kitson comperes an evening with eminent stand-up intellectual Stewart Lee, left-wing artso Josie Long and talk-of-the-town New Yorker Lewis Schaffer. An oasis of alternative funnies in the wasteland of Valentine’s London, this is a rare chance to see the crème de la comedy crème for a fraction of the price of nationally touring shows.
It’s worth it for Kitson alone. One of the sharpest minds on the circuit, he’s also one of the most exclusive acts around: with a zero-publicity-policy surrounding all his shows, he announces dates sporadically to a mailing list of devotees, and without fail they sell out in minutes. He won’t be delivering a set this time, but the soupçons of his masterful, arcing storytelling style that this show promises are not to be missed.
As for the acts: Stewart Lee is probably the most respected voice in the industry these days, so we’ll spare you the obvious fanfare. Having just finished a Leicester Square Theatre run of consistently sold-out Much A Stew About Nothing shows, he’s on a roll. Prodigious Josie Long, recently dubbed ‘London’s Lena Dunham’ by the Evening Standard , is currently on fine form with a BAFTA Scotland-nominated film tour. Veteran New York comedian Lewis Schaffer - presenter of the Resonance show Nunhead American Radio and rapidly-rising star on the UK circuit – will be taking the night off from his hotly-anticipated Leicester Square Lounge show An American in London.
Without a doubt one of February’s hottest tickets, so snap seats up now!
