A retelling of Oscar Wilde's comic novel comes to the Unicorn this winter
When it comes to delightful, provocative, children's theatre, the Unicorn is always a safe bet. No matter the ages of your children, you're likely to find a family show to appeal this festive season.
We're most excited about the spooky retelling of Oscar Wilde's 1887 comic novel, The Canterville Ghost, which has been adapted by Anthony Weigh and directed by Justin Audibert.
It's the story of the Otis family, who move from America into Canterville Chase - and are haunted by the type of ghost you'd expect to find in a creepy Gothic mansion, Sir Simon Canterville. It's spooky, it's funny, and the kids will enjoy the illusions and ghostly effects on stage. Look out for post-show talks with the cast, and on Dec 7, 14 and 21, kids can participate in a creation workshop after the show.
If you've got younger children (The Canterville Ghost is recommended for ages 7+), book in to see The Wolf, the Duck and the Mouse, a modern fairytale from the belly of the beast (mouse and duck have both been gobbled up) based on the book by Mac Barnett and Jon Klassen, adapted for the stage by Jack McNamara.
There's even a baby-friendly show on at the Unicorn this festive season: Scrunch, a sensory experience that focuses on the noises of Christmas.
