Back to the '60s: Courrèges Liberty take-over
1960s clothing brand Courrèges is back and taking over Liberty for two weeks this May with its updated vision of the future
It’s no small feat that the Courrèges aesthetic, now half a century old, still stands for the future.
Rebooted to critical acclaim under the direction of Lolita Jacobs, Sébastian Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant, André Courrèges space-age ‘60s brand took the fashion world by storm when it launched its Spring/Summer 2016 collection last year.
What's the trio's secret to success? Their stripped-down reinterpretation of the iconic Courrèges classics including knit bodysuits, jackets, skirts and trousers had the clean lines of the charming '60s fashion house, updated for a 21st century audience. We're thrilled to see the return of the brand's familiar jacket in a crinkly patent, alongside 60s miniskirts, A-line shifts, and short trousers in materials such as patchwork leather and sueded.
Until 18th May, Courrèges will be playing host to an exclusive Liberty takeover, in-store and online with a pop-up installation showcasing the Spring/Summer 2016 collection and housing an additional 16 styles chosen by Courrèges’ style director, Lolita Jacobs in a meeting of minds that we're incredible excited about.
Speaking to Liberty in an interview, Lolita Jacobs said: "The selection at Liberty is so clever; Courrèges brings a feeling of temporality as well as freshness to the fashion floor." We couldn't agree more.
