Neo-Bistro in Mayfair is the brainchild of Mark Jarvis and Alex Harper, two names you might not recognise, but, like most names in London dining, you'll know them for their work. Jarvis oversees the kitchen of game-changing Farringdon eatery Anglo, a neighbourhood restaurant visited by people far from its local catchment area, and Harper is from The Harwood Arms, the Fulham gastro pub and the only Michelin-starred pub in London.
Neo-Bistro will serve the best quality food in a relaxed way, with affordable, simple dishes focused on the highest quality ingredients. There's huge emphasis placed on a daily-changing chalkboard with seasonal specials – and besides the food, the restaurant will be focusing on supporting independent wine producers from France, and lesser-known grape varieties.
The idea is to let creativity reign, rather than stiff traditions, all the while being wary of too much innovation. Plates won't be minimal, theatrical or dainty – instead they'll be home-style and hearty.
