This January, the BFI devote a season to extensive revisitations of American film director and actor Quentin Tarantino's films. From his critically lauded debut Reservoir Dogs (1992) to the Oscar-winning Django Unchained (2012) the season includes all of Tarantino's best directorial features – and coincides with the release of Tarantino's new film The Hateful Eight, starring past collaborators Samuel L. Jackson and Kurt Russell, and Hollywood superstar Channing Tatum, among other huge industry names.
Tarantino's first foray into film with Reservoir Dogs (1922) announced his arrival with a bang. A mad compilation of gunshots, gangsters and razor sharp dialogue, it is now hailed as one of the most important independent films of all time. Pulp Fiction (1994), the glamorous gangster movie with a clever circular narrative structure followed, a thrill-ride riddled with femmes fatales, fatal romance and fearsome fighting.
