Prepare to be enthralled by new Ridley Scott film The Martian, a gripping human story laced with special effects. Adapted from Andy Weir’s The Martian novel, this new sci fi film follows astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon) who finds himself separated from his crew and marooned on Mars after a terrible storm. Without any means of contacting NASA 140 million miles away, Watney must find a means to signal Earth and sustain himself, despite Mars’ hostile environment.
Hope on Mars?
The Martian looks an extraordinary epic that shows, above all, the human capacity for hope. Watney continues to fight for his life even though he is painfully aware that, if a manned mission does come to his rescue, it will take them four years to reach him.
Jessica Chastain, Kristin Wiig, Matt Damon: new movie to rival Gravity
This greatly anticipated drama lands in UK cinemas on 30 September. If the trailer’s anything to go by we’re sure you’ll agree that The Martian’s shaping up to be one of the the hottest new sci-fi movies 2015 has seen – perhaps even since last year's Interstellar or Alfonso Cuaron's Oscar-winning Gravity. We're already preparing to add The Martian to the list of Matt Damon films we can't get enough of. Hold on to your helmets.
