Eddie Peake is a British artist raring to take over the world. He only graduated from the Royal Academy Schools in 2013, but has already made a splash with radical performances at the Tate Tanks, Chisenhale Gallery, White Cube and even a naked five-a-side football match at the RA. So when we heard that Eddie Peake was preparing for a new show at the Barbican Curve Gallery, we could not contain our excitement.
Eddie Peake | painting, performance & art
So what is all the fuss about? Peake has become known for his cross-disciplinary works that explore a riot of sexuality, identity and human behaviour. Somewhere between deeply profound, erotic and downright absurd, Peake's work has started to make the art world sit up and listen.
Eddie Peake exhibition | Barbican London
We can expect daring things from Peake's new Barbican exhibition, if his past dalliances at Tate and the RA are anything to go by. Architectural installations, choreographed performance and video will fill the Curve gallery where visitors will be able to explore the space across a raised scaffold walkway. Sound, video and performance will be scattered through the gallery space, with curious structures in plaster, acrylic and red velvet making a network of paths to get lost in. Desire, jealousy and love all resonate with this new show that has all the energetic spectacle of Peake's most memorable works so far.
