The biggest triumph to date from Regent's Park Open Air Theatre, Lord of the Flies, returns to the alfresco stage for a blink-and-you'll-miss-it run of just 14 performances this September.
Lord of the Flies theatre production, London
Lord of the Flies Regent's Park 2015 returns to its original home after a UK tour. If you missed the stage adaption of Nobel Prize winning author William Golding's novel when it premiered in 2011, book now to see the story of community, brutality and morality brought to life on stage.
Director Timothy Sheader brings out the menacing aspects of the novel, as the stranded boys descend into savagery. Set designer Jon Bausor creates a desert island with loving detail and the backdrop of open sky reflects the tension of the story, as the dusk sky darkens. For all its murky themes, Lord of the Flies is a compelling production for adults and older children. And, as the novel is a mainstay of the National Curriculum, this stage adaptation offers an enlightening opportunity to teens studying the text at GCSE.
