The recently renovated New Wing, Somerset House is set to open for its first show in January. This street art exhibition, Mapping The City, explores the unique relationship between fifty street and graffiti artists, and their urban landscapes where the walls of the city become the canvas.
Following the success of their previous exhibition in the lower levels of Somerset House earlier this year, collaborative arts organisation A(by)P commissioned over forty pieces especially for this show. From cartography to abstraction, established artists like Shepard Fairey, Swoon and Aryz will illustrate personal interpretations of their chosen cities and give us an insight into urban centres across the world through the eyes of those that know them best.
Look out for the series of films, music evenings, performances and workshops alongside this new exhibition which will make you rethink your own relationship with the big smoke.
