The most exciting Santa's Grotto, London 2014
This Christmas a portal will open up in the basement of Shoreditch Town Hall, leading straight to the North Pole and Santa Claus himself. This 45 minute theatrical experience is based on the traditional Grottos you can find in abundance in London department stores. But we expect something unique and gently subversive from these co-founders of cult troupe Shunt. Their work for adults is surreal and immersive, making them experts in creating a magical environment for a personal meeting with Father Christmas. Introduced by an elf of his lunch break, this will be a delightful and comic chance for children to celebrate Christmas with their mythical heroes and perhaps even be treated to an early Christmas present. Children of all ages are welcome, as long as they believe in Father Christmas.
Festive fun for Grown Ups
Grotto Lates takes Shunt's magical adventure and makes it yet more surreal. Strictly for the over 18s, expect bizarre collaboration from the likes of ever subversive playwright Christopher Brett Bailey (This is How We Die) and Father Christmas. An eclectic array of live comedy, theatre and art will combine to give a creative curation of Christmas cheer. Throw in live music and a late night and you have all the trimmings of truly unparalleled yuletide party.
