On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me…a limited edition artisan silverwork from the Contemporary British Silversmiths’ annual Christmas collection.
If you are looking for a design event London this festive season featuring young award-winning silversmiths without the high-end jeweller’s price, A Christmas of Curiosities at The Goldsmiths’ Centre is definitely for you.
The Contemporary British Silversmiths collection returns to the heart of London’s jewellery quarter in Clerkenwell with a new selection of silver decorations and objects d’art to delight design hunters. In a new twist to their collection this year, the group are launching their Christmas Advent Cabinet, where striking hand-made decorations and curiosity pieces will go on display in a wooden Advent Cabinet from December 1. Each day at The Goldsmiths’ Centre, London a new door will be opened to reveal one of 24 limited edition pieces – providing a real festive treat for collectors of contemporary craftsmanship. Pieces will also be available for sale at their on-line shop.
Curiosities featured in the Advent Cabinet include decorations from a Madonna and Child to a silver Guiding Star; silver spoons – from the deceptively simple to the ornate; and tiny objects worthy of any Christmas stocking. With prices ranging from £60 – £200, a silver connoisseur will be tempted to stock up on Christmas gifts for all the family.
