Now in its ninth year, Christmas at Kew is an annual fixture for some, loved for its laser show and fire garden. This winter, expect a glittering tunnel of bells, enormous illuminated seedheads and trees wrapped in ribbons of lights, as well as a treetop waterfall light show with an overhead aerial dance.

Kew's Temperate House will be aglow with colour from laser projections and thousands of twinkling lights in the tunnel, the Fire Garden will boast fiery sculptures flickering with flames and the Palm House Pond will host a lightshow against a backdrop of musical Christmas classics.

There's also plenty to munch on as you navigate your way through the illuminated gardens, such as hot chocolate and moreish street food. Of course, you can always celebrate the Christmas hols with a more decadent sit-down meal in Kew's Botanical Restaurant.

After last year's Covid-19 restrictions, the fairground has been reinstated for the 2021 event and visitors can say hi to Santa Claus on their visit too.
When you book tickets, you book for a specific gate (Victoria Gate, Lion Gate and Brentford Gate) - and you can choose from on- or off-peak times. Note: the trail takes around an hour and 15 minutes and is about 2.6km long – so you may want to bring a scooter or pushchair for little ones.
