A whole life of love, tenderness and loss is played out through a duo of dancing hands. Creative Contemporary Dance experts, Charleroi Danses collaborate with edgy Belgian film maker Jaco Van Dormael in a captivating fusion of art forms.
The Story...
Fingers touch fleetingly on a train… Alone on the platform edge a woman is transported back to this formative memory. It's this discernible moment of pure love that begins an imaginative journey in which she conceives an entire lifetime of romance and intimacy.
The Method...
The hands become the characters, capturing emotions and relationship with a mesmerising series of movement and interaction. The scaled down, finger-sized set has a delightful dollhouse quality as miniature objects gain poignancy and prominence. This intricate and intimate live performance is projected onto a panoramic screen to create simultaneous cinematic experience. Artistic disciplines entwine, as mime, dance, narrative and cinema merge.
As a creative collaboration between Charleroi Danse choreographer Michèle Anne De Mey and award-winning film maker Jaco Van Dormael the combination of physicality and spectacle make this production an extraordinary experience - which demonstrates the arresting arson of emotion we have at our fingertips.
